2022 Winter Workshop

Date: Thursday, February 24 from 9:00am - 3:00pm

Location: Virtually on Zoom and Hunterdon County Library Headquarters, Flemington

9:00 - 12:00    We're All Biased: Here is How We Can Manage it 
This virtual, yet highly interactive program will:
Present the latest neuroscience research on unconscious bias and micro-inequities; Raise awareness of how managing our own bias can promote stronger collaboration among staff members and stakeholders resulting in more effective leadership, efficient resource sharing, enhanced customer service and innovative solutions; Introduce the concept of micro-inequities and how these small behaviors can have a strong impact on student experience; Emphasize the importance of demonstrating respect when working with individuals that are different from ourselves; Provide techniques for recognizing and addressing counterproductive behaviors and attitudes; and Practice the skill of Inclusive Dialogue to promote inclusion and positive relationships with staff and students.
12:30 - 1:00     Lunch, business meeting & selection of Enthusiastic Readers
Lunch will be served as we discuss HCLA matters and coordinate this year’s Enthusiastic Reader winners.

1:00 - 1:30    The latest from Hunterdon County Library
Maryjean Riou will share the latest news on HCL’s headquarters renovations and programming.
1:30 - 2:00        Top Takeaways from NJASL’s Fall Conference
For those who missed it, several HCLA members will share key takeaways from the most impactful sessions of the NJASL Fall Conference.
2:00 - 3:00         Grade Level Library Articulation – Elementary, Middle & HS
Librarians from around the county will share ideas concerning best practices in teacher collaboration, collection development, and instruction.
Workshop fee: $45.00

Due to current circumstances, the morning session will be virtual over Zoom. The link will be shared once an affirmative RSVP is received.  We will plan for an in-person meeting from 12:30-3:00 at HCL headquarters.  A final determination will be made the week before the event about making the afternoon sessions virtual as well.  Please email hclibrarians@gmail.com with any questions.
